Pictures of birds, eyes, and shapes tell stories about the pharaoh’s life. Page 6 They quietly walk into a room with a sarcophagus, a big stone box that holds a mummy. “This mummy was once a great ruler,” says Rami. Sam and Ava feel a little scared, but also very curious! Page 7 At midday, they visit the busy market. People trade goods like wheat, dates, and cloth. “We use boats to carry our goods along the Nile,” explains Rami. Sam and Ava see bright, woven baskets full of fruit. Page 8 It is time to say goodbye. Rami waves. “Come again!” Sam and Ava open the magic book and zoom back home. Their hearts are full of wonder at all they have learned about Ancient Egypt.

At the top Jens yells “I did it!” Jumps up and down and Lex says “Oh that’s why you let us do hard things.” 🥲" I could go on and on about how amazing Ava is as a nanny and what a blessing she is to raising my little men, and she is SUCH a huge blessing and incredible woman, but instead I can't help but see the parallel of that story and the role God has in our lives. I can't tell you how often I wish my lifelong trial would be over and how often I literally ask God why he is making me go through all this pain even I KNOW he could take it away... Then I remember the little and big wins along the way and the things I have learned and gained because of pain I am constantly in. God absolutely tells me where to step, but I haven't ever experienced the feeling of him completely lifting me to the top of the playground. I feel him watching me and cheering me along. Then I do something impossible and I jump up and down with joy saying "I did it!" and I know he's so proud of me. And just like little Lex I think to myself, "Oh that’s why you let us do hard things." Let's not forget to let God guide us. Thank God for the miracles we experience every day

Page 4 In the village, they met an uncle who told them the history of Lung Yeuk Tau. The kids listened eagerly, especially about the Tang family and the pirates. Page 5 Next, they went to the Tin Hau Temple and saw the statue and ancient bells. Lily asked, “What are those bells for?” The uncle explained, “They are used to pray for safety!” Page 6 The kids decided to have lunch in front of the temple. The uncle shared some traditional snacks with them, and they felt the warmth of Lung Yeuk Tau's culture. Page 7 After lunch, they visited the Song Ling Tang Temple. John Jr gave Yuēhàn some history about the Civil War. The American Civil War was a war between the Union (Northern US States) and the Confederacy (Southern US States) that lasted from 1861-1865. The war was fought over disagreements about slavery, states vs. federal rights, the election of Abraham Lincoln, and the economy. 3. John Jr found some information on the battle of Gettysburg. The Battle of Gettysburg was a three-day battle fought between Union and Confederate forces between July 1 and July 3, 1863, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The battle, which was won by the Union, is widely considered the Civil War's turning point, ending the Confederacy's aspirations to establish an independent nation. It was the Civil War's bloodiest battle, claiming over 50,000 combined casualties over three days. 4. Yuēhàn found some information of the final battle and shared it with John Jr. The Battle of Palmito Ranch took place on May 12–13, 1865, near the Rio Grande in Cameron County, Texas. The battle was fought between Confederate forces under Col. John S. “Rip” Ford and Union forces under Col. Theodore H. Barrett. The battle resulted in a Confederate victory. 5. John. Jr and Yuēhàn finished packing and loaded up the car. They had a wonderful time in Gettysburg and even saw a Civil War reenactment.
