The Line Fire is a large active wildfire in San Bernardino County, Southern California. The fire began on September 5 near the community of Highland and spread into the San Bernardino National Forest. The fire has forced the evacuation of multiple communities. On September 10, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department identified and arrested 34-year-old Justin Wayne Halstenberg, a resident of Norco, on suspicion of starting the fire on September 5. As of October 8, 2024, the Line Fire has burned 43,978 acres (17,797 hectares) and is 87 percent contained. The cause of the fire is believed to be arson.[3] It began during a multiple-day heatwave in Southern California. Downtown Los Angeles reached 112 °F (44 °C), the third time that temperature had been reached since 1877. The Line Fire has led to mandatory evacuation orders for more than 500 homes. Initial evacuation warnings were issued for neighborhoods in East Highland in the early morning of September 6, 2024. By September 7, 2024, evacuation orders would be placed for neighborhoods along the foothills, extending into San Bernardino, and for neighborhoods east of Calle Del Rio. Over the following days the mountain communities of Green Valley Lake, Cedar Glen, Lake Arrowhead, Crestline, Valley of Enchantment, and Big Bear Valley were placed under evacuation warnings. Elara found some soft leaves and helped Pip build a cozy new home. Pip chirped happily and dropped a bright yellow feather! "A feather? Why?" Elara chuckled. Finally, Elara reached the top of Mount Gigglepuff! But oh no! She'd forgotten her juice box, her yummy sandwich, and her silly hat! She was SO sad. Then, she remembered the gifts! The bouncy ball became a super fun bouncy seat! The smooth pebble was perfect for skipping across the mountaintop! And the bright yellow feather? It made a super-duper sparkly hat! Then we went to a toy shop and bought a Kirby doll. On the third day, as we were heading home, the volcano suddenly erupted! Kirby and I ran away as fast as we could. Kirby shouted, “Hurry up! Let’s get on the plane!” So, we quickly left Japan. Four hours later, we arrived home safely. We had so much fun in Japan!
