His father explained that he doesnt know how to skateboard but luckily Layths Uncle Tio Von is very good at skateboarding. So Layths father called Tio Von to the house to show Layth how to skateboard and do tricks. Layth was a natural and learned very fast. The next day Layth entered the Canada Skateboard Extreme Tricks Competition and won 1st Place

Kayla is new to school and is nervous to start Kindergarten. She meets a new friend, his name is Bobby. In school Kayla is playing with blocks, having lunch and in the playground and Bobby is always touching her hair, poking her, or in her personal space. The story tells of a child and mother who have come into a homeless shelter due to domestic violence in their home. The child is nervous about their new home, but a small, scruffy grey and brown dog named Scarlett welcomes the family and tells them about Quanada house. Quanada house is a home for parents and children that people stay at when their home isn't safe. It is a safe place that looks like a big house with an upstairs that has 5 bedrooms. Throughout the story, Scarlett shows the family their room, the dining room and kitchen, and the playroom. Scarlett the shelter dog helps the child make their bed up in their new room and brings toys to help it feel more like home. The child is sad about leaving their home but scarlett makes them feel better. Then they go downstairs and watch tv and eat a snack in the family room. After they eat, they go upstairs and brush their teeth and go to sleep in their temporary home.

Arlo is a small and kind dinosaur who loves playing with his two best friends, Max and Buck. Max is strong and adventurous, while Buck is silly but always supportive.
