They followed its tracks deep into the forest, but the animal was too clever and always managed to escape. The hunters grew tired and hungry, so they decided to rest under a tree. As they lay there, they heard birds singing above them. The birds, noticing the hunters' plight, decided to help. They flew down and spoke to the hunters, saying that they knew the secret of jochi pintao. The birds revealed that the peccary had been protecting something valuable—a hidden food source that could sustain the Tacana people for generations. Guided by the birds, the hunters followed jochi pintao once more, this time without trying to catch it. The peccary led them to a clearing where they discovered an unusual plant growing in the ground. This plant was yuca. The hunters dug up the roots, and the birds taught them how to prepare and cook the yuca, turning it into a nourishing meal. Binibigyang halaga sa pistang ito ang naggagandahang bulaklak kung saan kilala ang lungsod na ito. Nagsimula ang pagdiriwang ng Panagbenga noong 1995. Isinagawa ng pistang ito para maiangat muli ang Lungsod ng Baguio mula sa malagim na lindol noong 1990. Maraming gawain ang makikita sa pagdiriwang ng Panagbenga. Ang pinakasikat at inaabangang gawain tuwing pista ng bulaklak ay ang parada. Kasama sa paradang ito ay sayawan sa kalsada at pagtugtog ng mga banda. Si Datu Salangkapaw, isang malupit na pinuno, ay nagpadala ng babala: “Sumuko kayo at maging bahagi ng aking kaharian, o ihanda ninyo ang inyong sarili sa digmaan.” Sa halip na matakot, nagtipon si Alianapia ng mga mandirigma ng kanyang bayan. “Hindi natin ibibigay ang ating lupa sa sinuman!” aniya.
